Banking in a Pandemic
Embarking into summer, it’s hard to ignore how difficult spring has been for so many people. While our community has been very lucky health wise, our daily lives have been transformed all the same. “Resilience” might just be the word of the decade here in the Boundary, especially for our small business community. We are working hard to get our business members the relief they need, and we encourage everyone to shop local as much as possible.
On average, independent companies return $63 of every $100 in revenue to their local economy. Multinational companies return $14 of $100*.
That said, our business operation here at gfcu has been extremely fortunate. While at times, it has been stressful and occasionally scattered, our staff really pulled together as a team to make it work. We’ve had people working from home and in remote offices since March, and while that continues to change, we keep learning how to better serve our members in this adapted banking environment.
We are proud to say that despite some early closures, our credit union has not had to lay off a single staff member – and everyone has continued to receive their normal pay. Even during reduced work weeks.
In early June, we also launched a survey to try and determine how the pandemic banking experience has been for members, and if our efforts are meeting your expectations. Again, we are proud to say that our members appear to be very happy with the way things have been going here at gfcu. Of 505 participants:
- 71% feel gfcu has met or exceeded their expectations during the pandemic
- 74% say banking is no more difficult today than prior to the pandemic
We are always looking for feedback – and now more than ever, as we evolve for the future, it is important to know what our members expect to see from their credit union. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions, concerns, or feedback.
